Resurrecting an Oldie...

You may not have seen this...if you've been living under a rock.
But it still makes me smile.

LOST...

I'm WAY excited about LOST tonight! I may have to watch it without Rob. We usually just DVR everything and then when we both have time, watch stuff together. But if I don't watch it tonight I might have to wait until Sunday and I just don't think I can do that.

If you are a Lostie like me, I highly suggest reading Jeff Jensen's articles on EW.com. There's also a place to subscribe to Lost updates, which of course I do. Not to mention I think he's a damn funny writer.

Remember the map on the back of the door in the hatch? Here's an interesting overview of that with some notes.

Mmmm...eye candy...

Ok fine here's some candy for the guys...

Just Don't Do It...

Seriously, unless you have your own walled in office...DON'T CLIP YOUR NAILS AT WORK!!!

I'm not talking about 1 broken nail that you're taking care of...but don't give yourself a manicure at work and annoy your cubemates!
That clipping sound? You know how someone clicking a pen mindlessly over and over is annoying? SAME THING!!!

Happy Birthday Brent!!!

I've known this dude for most of my life!

Happy 31st!!!
It looks like you're ticked off here! But it was during a rough game of cornhole...perhaps it was right after you got nailed in the head by a cornhole bag.

I laughed 'til I cried...

If this doesn't make you laugh your ass off you really need to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail!
And we all know the rule for 'stupid funny' movies...watch it more than once.

Inspiring? Posters...

Thank you to Rob for giving me a laugh this afternoon.

I shall share the wealth...
I did this to someone driving last night!!! :)
This one's my favorite...I'm going to hell.

Time Travel Mart...

For all of your time travel needs...

This is a for real store in LA (go figure), but seriously it's ingenious & hilarious.

Be prepared! You never know who you might run into in the past...

Or the future...

Aw, damn it! Their slushy machine is broken!

Photos from Shipshewana...

I hauled my camera everywhere with me in Shipshewana. You never know when you'll have a great photo op...and there were many. I even took a special trip into 'town' and walked all around strictly with the purpose of capturing photos. Here are some of my favorites...

Random from Shipshe...

There were a few random things that I took photos of and thought I would share...

One thing I love about Shipshe is the food. Anywhere you go it's good. One of the best things on earth is Yoder's Meat & Cheese Shop. They have a LOT of farm cheese and you can sample almost all of them. As well as all kinds of summer sausage, jerky, a deli case, and a HUGE frozen meat case that has anything from chicken to beef to buffalo. I always try to stop there at least for one hunk of cheese and some ground buffalo.
I mean...check out this cheese case! (And this isn't all of it!)
On this trip I got some Yoder Swiss, Amish Butter cheese, smoked string cheese, buffalo brats and some ground buffalo.

Dessert?

These are the biggest turtles I've ever seen. I know scale is hard to tell in this picture...but one of these would not fit in the palm of my hand. I'd say...bigger than a CD.

There are a ton of different shops in Shipshewana. You know the 'Build A Bear' stores? Well...there's this in Shipshe...If dolls are your thing. Which they are NOT mine.
And I find this particularly creepy...

I'm baaaaack...

I'm back on the air!
Only 2 hours to go through all of my work emails...and only half of them were junk.

I'll have time around lunch to post some great pics I took in Amish country.

Ooooh and while I was gone my visitor counter surpassed 2,000!!!
Thanks for reading!

Where's the BenGay?

I hurt myself just looking at this picture.

It also pains me how slow my parents' ancient Dell is at...everything.

Will Be Away for a While...

I'm going on a mini-vacation starting tomorrow! I won't be 'back on the air' until Monday.

I'll be in Shipshewana, Indiana (Amish country) with my mom at a Scrapbooking Getaway Weekend.

Hopefully I'll have some opportunities to take some great pics of the Am-ose now that I have a bad-ass camera.

So ta-ta for now...
I leave you with laughs...

That is what I keep telling myself.

15 Degrees...Wine...

15 degrees...windchill: -1 degree.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

It's the kind of cold that just cuts right through your skin. Days like this make me want to move.

We started another batch of wine last night. We're splitting it three ways. This one is a little different for us because we usually make the fruity sweeter wines. But this is a dry red...Brunello. We'll each end up with 9 or 10 bottles. Next up...design a label.

Showing Results...

I made it to the gym Saturday and Sunday! It really is becoming something that I enjoy doing and feel weird when I don't go.
And I'm getting results! I'm down at least 4 pounds. That's a lot for me because I'm a "converter"...I convert fat to muscle...so I may not necessarily see a huge drop in pounds since muscle weighs more than fat. (I learned this the last time I lost...a lot more inches than pounds!)
Any progress in good, encouraging...because it's so easy for anyone to fall into the 'well it's not working so I give up on it all' trap.
Anyway - WOOHOO!!!

On Saturday night you could find me...of all places...at a country western bar. I broke out the cowboy boots! The girls and I stomped it out at 8 Seconds Saloon. And if you know me at all, you know I am FAR from country. But they all are and it's really not a bad time. I know a couple of line dances but mostly watch the others and just people watch. (There was a chick totally thought she was Victoria Beckham...why do people try so hard?) There's also an R&B type dance club in the back where we sometimes shake it...but it's gotten quite sketchy back there...I think we even used the word "scary". So we kept it to the country side. There was a live band and they were actually very good. I may not listen to country...but I still can appreciate any music.
There was also mechanical bull riding...and some of those people should NOT be trying that. Think My Big Redneck Wedding...the episode where the newlyweds...not so skinny...double rode. A lot of that was happening. Then there were the cutie cowboys that could really hang in there. And hey, some cowboys are sexy!!! And some just think they are.
Final Thought...
And Fishers (Indiana) should really look into harnessing windpower...I swear I'm surprised our siding hasn't blown off this year. I've never seen or heard it so windy so often. It kept me up last night and it's not the first time.

Improv Everywhere...

Absolutely Brilliant!

A new Improv Everywhere performance art: over 200 people frozen in place in Grand Central Station in New York!

On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station. Over 500,000 people rush through Grand Central every day, but today, things slowed down just a bit as commuters and tourists alike stopped to notice what was happening around them.

The next video shows more of the 'stunts' they've pulled. Some are a bit too close to Candid Camera for me (see McDonald's) but the people in the windows...FANTASTIC!

Help Find a Missing Indiana Marine...

Eric Hall
Age: 24
Hair: brownish-blond
Eyes: brownHeight: 5 feet, 9 inches
Weight: 140 pounds
Clothing: leather jacket with "In Memory of Pops" patch, plaid longsleeved shirt, white T-shirt, jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office at 941-639-0013.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A former Marine and Clark County resident who was wounded in Iraq has been missing for nearly a week in Florida.Eric Hall, 24, left the Deep Creek, Fla., home of a relative he was staying with on Sunday, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. He rode away on a motorcycle that was later found on a roadside, still running.Hall had been hallucinating and having flashbacks, the sheriff's office states. Officials said Friday they were still searching.Hall was injured in June 2005 when a bomb exploded while he was on patrol. He was treated for damage to his right arm, left leg and hip and the left side of his abdomen. He spent 13 weeks in the hospital and was then granted medical retirement by the Marines.Hall's father, Kevin, said his son had been struggling with the stress and his injuries since he returned home. He said the 2002 Jeffersonville High School graduate had moved to Florida to "get things together."Most of the family traveled Florida to help authorities. His father remained in Indiana in case his son returns."If he went back to full military mentality he knows how to hide," Kevin Hall said.
********************
Eric Hall, a 24-year-old former Marine who was injured while serving in Iraq, went missing Sunday. When he was last seen at his aunt's home in Deep Creek, he was in the midst of a flashback to the war, relatives said; he claimed people outside the house were coming for him. He left, and his motorcycle was discovered later that day near Sulstone Drive and Pasadena Terrace in Harbour Heights. Becky Hall said it was lying on its side, still running.
********************
Family members said that Hall suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and that since his return from Iraq, he hasn't been the same.Physically, he left the war-torn country with gun wounds, but mentally, he left scarred with fear. Now, his family fears they may never see him again.
********************
Hall fought in Afghanistan and Iraq. While on foot patrol in Fallujah in 2005, an improvised explosive device went off about 15 feet from him, badly damaging his left leg. He was medically retired from the Marines a year later and is considered 100 percent disabled. He still walks with a pronounced limp and has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
********************
Hall disappeared from another cousin's Deep Creek home Feb. 3. He had recently stopped taking his pain medication for a leg injury suffered in Fallujah, Iraq, three years ago when an explosive device nearly blew off his leg.He has pins, rods and plates in his leg, family said. Hall also walks with a limp.Since his injury, Hall has been fighting with the military for $4,700 in vacation pay. The Department of Veterans Affairs rated Hall as partially disabled, which limited him to $700 a month instead of the $2,500 in full disability pay.

Seriously...

What is with all the school shootings? Breaking news from CNN...shooting on the campus of Northern Illinois University. A gunman opened fire in a lecture hall. So far the reports are saying the only person dead is the gunman...whether inflicted on himself or someone else it doesn't say.
I don't get it. What the hell is so wrong that you feel the need to go shooting people...probably random people? What problem is so unsolvable in your life that you want to end it...and in a so-called 'blaze of glory'. I'll tell you what...it may be a blaze...but there sure as hell ain't no glory. Except perhaps the victims & survivors.
I don't remember the name of the gunman at Virginia Tech...what I remember is how the whole campus (& country) came together afterward. I mean, in their next football game...the opposing team's fans wore VT shirts. How cool is that?
People won't remember you or behold you for something like that. No mercy = no honor.
Get some help. Figure out the real source of your issues. There's nothing wrong with seeking help...I think that's the hardest and bravest thing that a person could do...admit they can't handle themselves. Maybe you think you are "so misunderstood"...well, yea, but mostly by yourself. If you want to take yourself out...fine. You don't have to take others with you.

I was a student at Purdue when there was a shooting there. Luckily I lived off campus and didn't have that kind of panic of wondering what the hell was going on. But I was watching TV when they broke the story live...it was very surreal. All because a dorm counselor was doing his job and turned this dude in for having cocaine. Um, it's illegal...like, not just college dorm illegal but 'you are busted and going to jail' illegal. What did you think would happen? Ass.

It's really quite sad.

***UPDATE
Oh damn. Four people confirmed dead at this time (besides the gunman). My thoughts and prayers go out to their families.
***UPDATE
Make that six.

I wish I got commission or paid by the hour!!!

This is the second day in a row that I got to work at 6:45 am. And it's not after 5:00 pm and I'm still here...and I didn't technically take a lunch. But you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. It's three huge jobs that all had something due today. One of them was an intense 3D. Hey, why don't I show you...
I don't know if you can tell what's going on here...it's 8 workstations with all kinds of crazy storage and glass.
This is what I do.
And if the dealership that is contracting us gets this bid...it's 37 floors of furniture. Job security.

Oh yea, it's that made up holiday again...

Again, that's all I have time for...
And I'll be workin' late tonight too.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

All I have time for today...

Figured I'd at least make you laugh...

To get this first one...you have to have seen daytime TV...and its horrendous commercials.

So it's Tuesday and snowing...

No gym last night kids. But it was because we needed to go to the grocery store in the worst way & going to the store last night means going to the gym tonight which is better than a Monday. Mondays at the gym are like the week after New Years all over again. It's the "oh, I'll start again on Monday" thing combined with the people that really do have a routine of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It's retarded on Mondays!
So anyway. We went to the store (which we loathe doing) in the blistering cold (about 12 degrees with lots of wind), swung by Qdoba for a naked burrito (which we split at home and put our own reduced fat cheese and sour cream on...seriously a LOT healthier that way!), plopped on the couch to eat and watch CSI re-runs (and amazingly saw one that we had never seen), and got in bed before 9. Yes. 9. We were just that tired.

Anywho...I'm glad I have a new attitude about going to the gym. I can't really explain it but it's become less of a grudge, less of a "I have to", less talking myself into it. I just do it. And like it. Yea, that's the weird part.

OKAY SERIOUSLY!!! I just went to the breakroom to heat up my lunch (Healthy Choice Creamy Dill Salmon Cafe Steamer...very good by the way) and I open the lovely week old stainless steel microwave and...someone's food had exploded and they didn't clean it up!!!!
GOD!!! I've had enough. I just sent out a nasty email to all employees.
I mean, how old are we? And no one here is anyone's mother!!! Clean up after yourselves!!! It irritates me so much because it's basically disrespecting other people and their property. I guess I was just raised and taught differently (the right way).

Sigh...
And now a word from our sponsors...
OH! How cool is this shirt I just bought!?!? I love it. It's from Woot Shirt.

It's the shiz-nit.

Ugh...grudgingly back to work I go...

***Yea, Brent...spell check totally isn't working.

Talk about making lemonade...

This guy doesn't let the fact that he has no arms stop him from playing guitar...

This is way cool...

Ok, at first I was like "what the...? Am I wasting my time?"

Seriously though...watch

Stealin' a Piece of Time...

I had a very NON-productive weekend. It was awesome!
It went too fast though...as all weekends do. I'm all for a four day work week.

Saturday I went to the gym for about an hour and a half! Go me! I even did some ab & core exercises when I got home. (And get this...I went to the gym yesterday too!) Anyway...it was nice...I think I've got new motivation...nothing in particular...just a renewed desire. I have a picture in my head of what I feel I should look like and the only way to get there is to get movin'.

Caution - wine education below:
Anyway, Saturday night we had a company 'party' at Easley Winery in downtown Indy. Rob & I were looking forward to it because we had never been there. (Shocking I know)
But unfortunately we were disappointed. We are officially wine snobs. I think it's just that we know too much to be impressed there. It was truly a midwestern winery...everything was sweet. EVERYTHING. I got excited on the tour to try the cabernet when he was talking about it being "the best Cab he's tasted" and how it's "so smooth". Well, yea it's smooth. Because it's almost water. Cab is supposed to be a dry red. They called this one dry...I do not. If any Californian or other 'wino' tasted this stuff and were asked to identify it...they'd say "sweet red table wine". It had NO body and no lingering flavor...it just fell apart. And no wonder...they filter it 3 to 5 times through a 20-pad filter!!! "Midwesterners want clarity, they don't want to see any 'floaties'." To give you a comparison...when we filter wine (if we filter it at all which we hardly do) it goes through once in a 3-pad filter. Yes, it's a smaller scale...but the ratio is still WAY off.
It was hilarious to us though to hear people saying something was too dry there or even 'oooh I love this one' and it's so sweet even I had a hard time downing it. That's just Indiana for you. But if you're going to visit a winery in central Indiana...I'd take the extra time to go to Oliver Winery near Bloomington. They have some sweet ones for the true Hoosiers...but also have a grasp on what a merlot and cabernet sauvignon should taste like.
I went home and drank about a gallon of water...no lie. You think a merlot dries your mouth out? So does a crapload of sugar! So many people say "wine gives me a headache"...well, if you're drinking a bunch of sugary crap...it's the sugary crap...not the alcohol. And drink some water for Christ's sake!
Ok...sorry...wine rant

Well I'm on a Bon Jovi kick (again) lately. Sounds weird but I forgot what my favorite song was until I heard it again on my ipod. (I know...who forgets their favorite song...but I love so much music!!)

Right now here's my Top 6 Countdown from the JBJ playlist:
(Why 6? Because I starte to make my top 5 and couldn't decide on #5)
1. "(You Want to) Make a Memory" - one of the best songs ever, if you don't feel something when you listen to this song...you're dead inside
2. "Welcome to Wherever You Are" - reminds you that "you're exactly where you're supposed to be"
3. "Lay Your Hands on Me" - This Left Feels Right version
4. "Livin' on a Prayer"
5. "It's My Life"
6. "I'll Be There for You" This Left Feels Right version

Below is a YouTube video of my most favorite song ever...Make a Memory.
Now...I am not a fan of the video...it's depressing which is not how I hear the song. So click on it and browse the web or check your email or turn off the monitor...just listen.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way...
The week from hell is almost over. Yesterday should have been Friday. Today should be somewhere in next week...that's how long this week has been.
Work is freakin' hectic but my most important deadlines have passed. I had to correct mistakes on a project of mine...not really my mistakes...it was a lack of information specification error. NOWHERE IN THE FREAKIN' PRICE BOOK OR PLANNING GUIDE DOES IT SAY THERE WAS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. Ugh. Anyway...maybe now there will be. I just hate that because it makes me look incompetent but luckily everyone involved (except perhaps the end-user client) is very understanding about it and it was a very uncommon situation. Then I had a big bid due...well it was 2 workstations and 1 office but almost every piece of it was a 'special' item (meaning I basically have to draw it from scratch and put all the info in myself) and this bid leads to 37 floors of furniture...sooooo...it had to be right. I stayed at work until 7:30 on Tuesday to get that done. Then another bid was due yesterday...and my invoicing...I think I invoiced over $20,000 last month...damn I wish I had commission or something. This month is bound to be way more than that too.
The rock hard paralyzing knot in my shoulder is back...it switched sides so that's interesting. Not sure where it comes from aside from at work I kind of tensely hunch when I'm under the gun...but switching sides? Thankfully, it has not lead to any headaches...yet. I just jinxed myself I know it!
I've decided to up the dosage on my happy pills and will pick those up tonight. Spring can't come fast enough. I'll go off them sometime in April and then we'll see for sure if it's just seasonal.
I should find out about my raise by the end of this month or early next month. It better be the number in my head or really close or I'll be hunting around for a company that appreciates my worth. I'm totally getting screwed HARD right now.

I think it's a workout and then have a glass of wine night.

I WANT THIS CAR!!!!!! drool....

Gotta love the Clydesdales!

I'm PG!!!

Oooh, my rating was increased from 'G' because of my potty mouth in my last post. :)

Take THAT Pats!!!

If Peyton couldn't win, at least his little bro could! I'm just happy the cocky-ass Patriots got what was coming to them...and they are not invincible!!
I paid attention to the celebrations that were happening on both sides after a good play, sack, tackle...whatever...I tried to be as objective as I could. But I swear the Pats just think they are the shit and everything had an thug-like "in your face!" quality to it. You made a great play? Fine...celebrate a little...but don't be cocky. That's just bad taste.
But I digress...the Giants did it and I couldn't be happier! And you couldn't call it a boring game...I was on my feet for the last 3 minutes.

And finally...what you would see if you looked up cocky asshole in the dictionary... Could you pout a little more please? Sore loser.

4400...

Don't you hate it when a network cancels a show before giving it closure? That's what 4400 fans are trying to prevent USA Network from doing. By sending the network executives bags and bags of sunflower seeds (a favorite snack of an eccentric character).
You can send some too if you're a fan...
http://giantseeds.com/save-the-4400.html
Think it's silly? It worked for Jericho...with 50,000 pounds of peanuts.
And I hope it works for 4400 too...at least give the story closure!

The season finale left it at a big cliffhanger and so many unresolved issues. You just can't leave fans hanging like that! It would be like if they just stopped LOST as it is right now.
Unfair.

Here's the article on cnn.com...

I didn't even know they had axed the show until this.

It's one of those shows that we DVR and are always (at first) slow to get into it...kind of like "oh, I guess we'll start watching it to get it off the DVR"...and then we're totally hooked again.

Anyway...
Here's the plot in case you have no clue what I'm talking about...
"The 4400" tells the story of 4,400 people who were abducted at various times but returned at the same time in the foothills of Mount Rainier. They have not aged since their abduction and remember nothing about the time they were gone.

And the plot from imdb...
These are the stories of 4400 abductees after they are returned to Earth. People dealing with traumatic changes, driven by the mystery of what happened and why. Some of them have been affected in mysterious ways, and some will have certain abilities, both good and bad. The pilot has a ball of light sailing towards Earth. But rather than the expected catastrophic event, thousands of returned abductees are left with no memory of their otherworldly experiences. Each has been gone anywhere from a few months to several decades but hasn't aged a day.

Oh, and it totally has one of the best opening theme songs ever! AND incorporates popular music into the show...Maroon 5 "She Will Be Loved" was one of them before it came out.

Groundhog Day...

More winter...well...in Indiana it could go either way very easily. Still...I want to go to Punxsutawney someday to live the hub-bub of the day. It sounds fun!

And no, it won't look like the movie...it wasn't even filmed in Punxsutawney (boo) but in Woodstock, Illinois.

Well, I'm going to go watch the movie...again and again and again...
(which by the way I hated the first time I saw it...now I love it)

Lost sites...by request...

I've had a request to post the LOST websites that I've been getting my info from...

Here are the sites I subscribe to:

At http://www.find815.com/ there's a whole 'game' you can play. (Or you can go to the find815 blog and see all the videos without having to play.)
You can recap each season and follow this Sam guy on his search for the truth. His would-be fiancee was a flight attendant on 815 and he ends up being the one who finds the plane at the bottom of the ocean. But...does he believe that is really it?
This is Sam...

Lost...

Wow...it was a good one. And the whole Find815.com and sidestory are heating up too...I think soon we'll see how they converge.

SPOILERS BELOW! Recap & my thoughts...

Now we know for sure that 6 people eventually leave the island and that three of them are Jack, Kate, and Hurley. Jack wants to go back to island, Hurley is seeing Charlie everywhere and checked into a looney bin, but Kate seems alright. We also know that they did something bad on the island that they won't tell anyone about. I think they feel guilty about it. My thoughts are that they may have left some people or did something to other people in order to get themselves off the island. Locke is still a freakin' mystery. He wants to stay on the island...so stay! Let the others be rescued and fricking stay on the island yourself! Why ruin others chances to leave if they want just because YOU want to leave. Locke is being extremely selfish. But he might be saving people at the moment because (aside from not wanting to be found) he does believe that the boat offshore isn't exactly friendly and isn't there for rescue. So...we'll see how he turns out.
I cried a little when Hurley had to tell Claire that Charlie was dead. Sawyer is still hot.
From the sidestory...we know that they really did find Oceanic 815 at the bottom of the ocean...except that it was staged by the Maxwell Group...as subsidiary of Widmore Industries. And we know that Penny is the daughter of the big wig at Widmore. And "coincidentally" the excursion that found the downed plane was on a search for the wreckage of Black Rock, the big ole ship on the island.
Oh the tangled web they weave...

So much for the snow...

4-10 inches huh?

Ok, so I didn't take this picture and it's obviously not Indiana (it's not even the US!) but it's the closest thing I could find to what we actually got.

What's funny is...at 7:00 last night they had already started closing schools for today...and it was all completely unnecessary but irreversible.

It's pretty slushy though...if we got some flavored syrup we could all have snow cones!!

On a sidenote...that picture is actually somewhere in the U.K....which lately I've really been hankering to go to. But that kind of 'craving' isn't really as easy to satisfy as say...fried food.
