Can You Feel It?!?!...

I don't care if you make fun of me...
I've always like this song AND crazy video! RIP MJ!

Bummed...

I did not make the top 50 for the Murphy-Goode Winery dream job.  :(

No living in Healdsburg, CA, no $10,000/month for 6 months, no talking to wine peeps, tasting wine, touring the town and blogging about it.

I really really wanted that job.

Boohoo

Hey...they just don't know what they're missing.  :)

Good Recipe...

I made this last night and it was pretty darn good...

"No-bake Macaroni & Cheese" from...get this...'Healthy Living' magazine!!!  So it's HEALTHY!  Ok, it's healthier.  It has broccoli in it and it's super easy to make, just be careful with the sauce because it will thicken quickly.

http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/nobake_macaroni_cheese.html

And of course I can't follow recipes exactly...hardly ever do...
Here is what I changed...

-used reduced fat shredded cheese
-used more of the cheese, both types...which requires a bit more milk and flour as well for the sauce
-added lowfat ham chunks
-didn't quite use all the broccoli
-I did put it in a baking dish sprinkled more cheese on top and baked it until the top was golden bubbly

It's reeeeeaaaally good.

My Fav Blogs...

It's been a while since I've done a little of "what I read"...so I shall revisit.

I have come to the conclusion that I indeed read too many blogs...wait...I subscribe to too many blogs, because I subscribe to so many that I do not read all of them.  Some of the skipping is due to non-interest - hey I'm honest.  Sometimes the person has stuff I like, sometimes not so much.  But the interesting stuff is enough to keep me subscribed...especially when it's crafty stuff.  Loooove me some crafty stuff...just need to pull myself away from the computer to actually do the crafty stuff that I save and say I will some day.
I've started to pull some blogs into a folder I've labelled 'Trial', which is where I put new ones I'm not sure I'm going to get invested in...and also where I put ones I've been subscribing to but are really now on probation...not sure if I'll keep subscribed or not.  (Another plug for Reader...I love that I can sort my blog subscrips into different folders!  I'll recap my folders too)

My Folders in Reader
Crafts
Design
Food & Wine
For Fun
Friends
Humor
LOST
News & Stuff
Photography
Trial

Ok...I just checked my settings...I subscribe to 228 blogs.  Yea, I've definitely got to whittle these down.  If I find I skip a lot of entries from a particular one I move it to the 'Trial' folder...that's where blogs go to die I'm just not sure I have the time for go.

The blogs listed below are definitely safe! I read them all the time or consistently get good ideas from them, etc.

Pioneer Woman - I love love love her writing style.  She writes how she talks & thinks which is what I'm trying to do...I mean I pretty much do but I'm trying to be more real with it.  I'm real! But sometimes I worry too much about how I sound when really I just need to not worry about it and go.  Anyway...she's fabulous in all things cooking, photography, and hottie cowboy husbands, I mean, blogging...blogging!  She does step by step shots of everything she cooks so you can reeeeallly see how to do it and provide the recipes.  I have a ton of her recipes saved in my Google Docs.  She always makes them seem so...possible.  She is filed under my 'Friends' folder, cuz even though I don't know her personally...I feel like she's one of my peeps.  Er...maybe the other way around, but whatever.

Craftzine Blog - There are a tooooon of how-tos here.  Tooooons that I want to try out and just haven't sat down and done yet.  I really want to tackle the paper beads...Missa exposed me to them and just like that the how-to post was on their blog! It's a great crafty craft source.

How About Orange - Another crafty craft source and also design inspiration.  Some how-tos, some 'hey check out this site', some freebie downloads, very cool.  And how cool are these recycled magazine coasters?! Totally have to try to make those.

"Step away from the crafts!"
"But I have so many more coolio sites to share!"
"Move along...some of yo peeps are losing interest...lil variety would be nice"
"Mmmm K"

LocalWineEvents.com (Indianapolis) - People always wonder how I know about all these cool wine/spirit tastings and events around town...well this is my secret.  It keeps me posted on the small wine tastings at liquor stores to wine dinners to special spirit tastings in special locations to big wine fairs.  AND tells me what the cost is...many are free!  But so far the ones that we've had to pay for have been SO worth it.  Absinthe anyone?  (No it's not illegal, hallucinogenic, or trippy...it's just really f-ing strong alcohol.)

Gina's Weight Watchers Recipes - No I'm not on Weight Watchers but this site is great for some healthy recipes! Or at the very least ideas for them or how to tweak other recipes to make them more healthy...although I am getting pretty good at that myself.  :)  I have gotten many a good meal or side from here though, and if you ARE on WW...you need this site!

This is Why You're Fat - kind of just there to gross you out.  Seriously you'd be amazed at what people make and what people eat.  Although I'll admit there have been a few that I've drooled over...only a few.  They usually involve bacon.

Would I Buy It Again? - I follow WIBIA because he reviews stuff in my area! And I like an honest opinion about places I haven't been.  I also add my two cents if I feel the need...I actually just did...he reviewed Mexican food and I had to plug my favorite place (where he did not go).  Mmmm...El Camino...so dangerous that I could walk to one from here.  Anyway...he also let me know about freebie Wednesdays at Arby's...and that's important stuff to know!

Dispatches from the Island - this is a blog by Jorge Garcia...yup...Hurley from LOST.  And he cracks my shit up!  He really is very funny and seems like a really fun laid-back guy. Check him out.

Photojojo - Cool stuff to do with your photos, photo tips, photo tools...it runs the gamut.

This is just a taste...obviously...9 out of 228.  heh heh....hoooooo

Do you have any blogs you can't live without?  Suggestions?  Comments?  I'd love to hear 'em.
(Liam, Stacie...you know you're in my Friend category...don't give me no grief!)

Ok and I always say...what's a post without a pic...so...one from another I follow...I'm sure you'll know where it's from right away...

I <3 Nachos...

Stacie made me curious!

You Are Nachos

You are outgoing and generous. You love to share you life with other people.

You are carefree and light-hearted. You try to always make the best of things.

While you enjoy being with other people, you also value your alone time.

You like to reflect, think, and pick things apart. You like to study everything carefully.

I loooooooooooove nachos! I love to make them at home too! (Hint: OVEN folks...not the microwave!)
The analysis is actually pretty accurate too...especially the 'pick things apart' thing...I totally do.

Goodbye TV's Greatest Sidekick…

You know that Ed & Johnny are now kickin’ it together…sharing more laughs…

My dreams crack me up sometimes…

Ok so...it took me a while to remember my dream last night and I'm not even sure what triggered it.  Oh yes I do!!!  I was watching E! and they were talking about People's Hottest Bachelors of 2009.  Wow, that makes it sound like such a better dream than it was.  Stay with me though. Anyway...

This is what I can remember…
I was in a mall…not any mall that is familiar to me now…but a mall nonetheless.  I knew that there was a celebrity appearance here.  Zachary Quinto was scheduled to be at the mall…(Sylar, Spock)…for whatever reason.  And I remember thinking…eh, no big deal…but then I really wanted to see him.  What changed?  I don’t know.  Well, theeeen there was to be this talent show thing and ZQ was a judge for it.  Well I was just sitting in the ‘crowd’ (small crowd for a big celeb) and then I decided I wanted to show my talent, because despite the fact I had no preparation or accompaniment for my song, it would mean Zach would be focused on me for the duration of my singing.  So…I  sang.  And I have no idea what I sang now, I just know that I did indeed sing it well but then after I was done I thought, “no! I want to sing ‘The Sound of Music’ instead because I kick ass on that song and it would still be good without accompaniment!”.  But then I remember, “oh our piano player from Purduettes is around here somewhere (Hi Jon Renard!), I bet he knows ‘The Sound of Music’!”  I know, I’m lame.  Weeeeell…then the dream changed gears.  Still in a mall, no more Quinto. Sadness.

The next thing I remember is I’m walking around and boom, out of nowhere…The Shat!!!  William Shatner is just walking around.  So I gather my guts and go up to him.  I have my camera and ask him if I could please have a picture with him.  He obliges…oh The Shat is so nice.  So I hand my camera to some random dude to take the picture and Shat also gives his camera to the guy and also asks for him to take a picture of us.  Wha?  Who am I?!  Who cares?!  What The Shat wants The Shat gets.  (oooh maybe I’m famous in this part of the dream!)  SNAP  Picture taken, dream changes…again.

Now all I remember of this next part is that I’m inside, doubt it’s a mall anymore, looks more like a house.  I look out the window and it’s night and there’s snow on the ground.  I decide it’s time for me to leave and instead of going out the door I open the window and climb out.

Dream over. (Or at least that’s the most I remember)

Weird yes?

Man, why couldn’t I have made out with ZQ or something?!

Oh, so why did the People's Hottest bachelors thing remind me of my dream?  Well Mr. Quinto is one of them (although not listed at the link I provided...he really is).  And of course my #1 hottie is listed as #2 there.  ;)

Rainy Days & Mondays...

And then there's when your Monday IS a rainy day...

So I need a pick-me-up! Who better then Stevie!?!?!

Who/what do you like to listen to for a pick-me-up?

Flashback…

richard dean anderson

Not too proud to beg…at least for this…

I’m still begging for your vote for the Murphy-Goode Winery Dream Job.
Go here to vote for me, it asks for an email only to get a ‘confirmation’ for your vote so that people don’t put in all kinds of random emails in order to get uber-votes.  You will NOT get spammed!
http://www.areallygoodejob.com/video-view.aspx?vid=okZuytU-GVU
If you are so inclined to urge people to vote for me on your blog…well, I will not stop you!  ;)

If you haven’t read me talking about this dream job before and how perfect it is for me, well you can check out for yourself the ‘overview’ of the job here: http://www.areallygoodejob.com/overview.aspx

Or I can just tell you…
6 month job – I need a job, currently I don’t have one
$10,000 per month – boy could I reeeeally use that $$$!
Stay in a house provided by the winery in Healdsburg, CA – I am so in love with Healdsburg (seriously check out the Healdsburg website) I can’t even tell you but I’ll try…we went there for a part of our honeymoon and it is absolutely gorgeous. It is literally one of my most favorite places on earth!

Below is “what I’d be doing” (straight from the website) -
-Exploring the vineyards of Murphy-Goode and surrounding areas and discovering what the Sonoma County Wine Country has to offer, from well-known destinations to off-the-beaten-path spots.
-Tasting hundreds of wines and meeting the locals in our tasting room.
-Increasing your wine wisdom: while studying isn’t required, our winemaking and vineyard experts will take the time to show you how it’s all done.
-Working with our winemaker, David Ready, Jr., to create a new wine commemorating your job with us.
-Filing reports on your experiences, via weekly blogs, photo diaries, Twitter, Facebook, video updates and ongoing media interviews.

Um…hello?! I said it in my video…if I were to describe my ‘dream job’…seriously, literally this is it. I already review wines - www.lastingerwine.blogspot.com

I can already list a bunch of things that I would want to do! There are some great restaurants that I’d want to blog about…Bistro Ralph, Cyrus, Willi’s Seafood & Raw bar…some ‘off the beaten path’ places…Jimtown Store, Oakville Grocery (in Healdsburg but has much more to offer than just groceries)…they have Jazz on the Square too!  Not to mention the nearby towns in Sonoma Valley…Glen Ellen…need I say more?

*whimper*  I could cry I want this so badly!  And with having taken up photography and blogging…I know I would be great at it.

Oh it’s gonna hurt if I don’t get it.

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE vote, pray, cross your fingers, do some kind of Indian ritual dance or whatever for me to get this!

Ok, begging over.  Please continue with your day.  ;)

Oh wait, every post needs a picture…help me get here…

Epic Idiots of the Day…

PETA is worthless…

http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2009/06/18/fly-obama-peta.html

PETA was upset that Obama swatted a fly during an interview on television.

Because you know…flies are an endangered species…live such long lives “The average lifespan of an adult housefly is approximately 15 to 25 days.” (Wikipedia)…and no one in PETA has EVER swatted at a fly.  Right.

Here’s the ‘fly-swatter-in-chief’…I think it was a nice hit!

Favorite Thing of the Day…

Letters & Vintage signs…

This first pic is my fav…love all the different styles and colors. I think it works because there are so many letters in one space.  People are afraid to do this I think.  “Oh it will be too much!”  Sometime more is more.

the wall of letters in gorgeous typefaces.

more fabulous signage.

And I like real vintage signs, weathered…paint peeling…imperfect.  There’s more character there.

Jaw dropping wow...

The thunderstorm affect is awesome all done with their hands! And the singing is pretty darn good too...makes me miss PMO.

Help me get my DREAM JOB!...

At the risk of thoroughly embarrassing myself I will share the link to my video for the Murphy-Goode Dream Job contest...

I NEED YOUR VOTES!!!

I originally was never going to link you because I
felt like a complete tool making that video and it is way corny. But I need some votes to get noticed so...here is the link.
You can even vote and NOT watch my video!!! YEA do THAT! :)

No comments from the peanut gallery on how cheesy and awkward I am!

I really really really really really really really want this job! It is so absolutely perfect for me!

In the words of Princess Leia..."you're my only hope"...
(ok I am officially the world's biggest nerd now.)

Tip Junkie Week of Giveaways!

I love this website and this week they are 'going dot com' and giving away a ton of prizes! Check them out!!!

What you might be missing from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective...

This is a not often seen scene...ha ha seen scene...anyway...
For some reason this scene was cut from the original release of the film for the DVD version.  Which is even stranger considering it's on the VHS release...and the reason I hang onto my VHS Ace Ventura!

It is an absolutely hilarious scene which my friends and I often parody.  If you haven't seen it you are missing out but I have it below for your enjoyment!

This is during the investigation of Snowflake's (the dolphin) tank...

And just for fun one of the funniest scenes from Ace Ventura 2...

Favorite Thing of the Day...

I think they are gorgeous!

Of course I won't be getting one of these anytime soon (unless Tiffany & Co. would like to send me a freebie to review...hint, hint)...my favorite key just happens to be $10,000!!! *yikes*

They're not all an arm and a leg though, they have non-bling ones too. The basic sterling silver one...which is super cute, on the left below...is only $200 ($250 if you want it on the chain).

Today in History...

Today is the 20th Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square 'Massacre'.

I've always thought this photograph was incredibly powerful...

Boot Camp Progress...

Yea...I wish I could say that was me up there. But I do have a progress report!
.
I have been disciplined and have worked out at least 5 days a week since I started. If I'm not at least a little sore the next day or day after that even, then I didn't work hard enough and upped my reps or resistance weight.
.
I've been pretty good with food too. I've decided to call it 'realistic healthy' food plan. Meaning, I'm diligent about eating healthy and healthier but if I'm going to have a burger or a pizza that's OK! We must be allowed to satisfy our cravings...we just can't lose control when we do!
.
Anyway...on to the progress...
.
I've said before that I don't chain myself to the scale...all kinds of things affect actual 'weight'. Muscle mass is a biggie. And I don't have a small frame either.
.
In 2 1/2 weeks I have lost...
3 pounds
5 inches
.
That's pretty good actually! And I will tell you that I lost an entire inch off of just my hips! Sweet!
.
It's good to see progress, it keeps me motivated and knowing I'm doing the right stuff!
I still need to work on more water but I'm getting there.

I'm in stitches!!!

Oh, I'm such a geek.

Nice Anniversary Surprise...

We weren't going to do anything special at all for our anniversary. Me still being unemployed we didn't feel like we should. But later in the day we decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner. You know...still within reasonable budget.

After the storms rolled through...and I swore we were going to see a tornado form, the clouds were swirling...we hopped in the car and went. (It was bright and sunny after the awful storm, it hailed too).

So we're eating our soup and breadsticks (and alfredo sauce whose main ingredient is crack I think) and our waiter stops by and says our meal is coming up. He laughed and explained that they had lost power several times (as we did at the house too) and that there is a lot of extra food in the kitchen because after the power came back on some of the order tickets were reprinted in the kitchen so food was being made twice! The power outage must have effected their a/c too cuz it was real warm in there! Anyway, we didn't mind a little extra wait, we understand. Theeeennnn, after 40 minutes the manager comes over and says that regardless of their 'technical difficulties' a 40 minute wait is just unacceptable and our whole meal is on them!

Niiiiiiice!!!

We did order dessert to go after and were charged for that (understandably) and left a tip appropriate to the whole meal. So we got out of there paying $13. We tipped generously because they did the right thing.

By the way...
Let me just critique the food for a minute...

We started off with the Chicken Gnocchi soup...we were excited about trying it, it's new and ever since we saw the commercial we've been drooling over it. We love gnocchi.
Well, everything about it was delicious...except the chicken part. Oh...ew ew ew ew ew. I picked a few scary looking pieces out of mine...eventually I pulled out nearly all of the chicken or ate around it. It was all dark meat which wouldn't be all bad if they'd be a little more careful with trimming it. I had so many grissly pieces...gag! The chicken didn't even look appetizing either...it reminded me of the chicken pieces in condensed chicken noodle soup...but worse!
I actually think I'm going to write Olive Garden, it was that gross.
But like I said...the rest of it was delectable...so pick out your chicken and eat the yummy gnocchi!

I got the Shrimp & Asparagus Risotto (large sautéed shrimp served over creamy parmesan risotto with asparagus). Sounds good yes? It was! It was absolutely deLISH! OMG! I brought half of it home for lunch later! Mmmmmm

And of course dessert...we took some Tiramisu home to eat at a liesurely pace. And it was goooood.

2 Years Ago Today...

I married my best friend...

The garden at the Oliver Mansion is so gorgeous!
This is totally us...LOL!

I bought this wooden 'L' from a guy online and I painted it and added the crystals. I think it turned out great! You should have seen it with the spotlights on it...sparkly!

These served as both the centerpieces and the favors. I bought the vases with the words printed on them then added the decorative rub-ons myself. Each vase held one flower, 8 different ones on each table arranged in a close circle. No 'arrangements', made it easy labor for the florist. They were fabulous...the whole wedding was very DIY for me...and I loved it!

For real that was speech...there will never be a best man speech as awesome as this...

Oh and how AWESOME was my hair?! Very.

Ain't it the truth...
